Bulk Modifications
Edit your Product Catalog in bulk using an Excel spreadsheet.
With Encamp, it's possible to edit your organization's product catalog in bulk using an Excel spreadsheet. This can be significantly more efficient than editing products individually through the user interface.
Follow these steps to use this feature.
Step 1: From the Product Catalog screen, click the More Actions button, and then Edit products in Excel.
Step 2: Click Generate Template, which will generate an Excel spreadsheet template that reflects your organization’s current product catalog.
Step 3: Once the template is generated, click on the Download Template button to download the Excel spreadsheet.
Step 4: Once all changes have been made, upload the modified spreadsheet into the designated area within the Update your Product Catalog modal. You might have to repeat Step 1 to get to this stage.
See the Modifying the Spreadsheet section below for guidance on how to make edits.
Modifying the Spreadsheet

- Product name and Alternate ID
- Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number (CAS #)
- Extremely Hazardous Substance (EHS) designation
- Pure or Mixture designation
- State of Matter
- Trade Secret
- Hazards
- Density
- Date that Safety Data Sheet was last uploaded
The Mixture Components tab collects information on each specified mixture component including:
- Associated product name
- Component name
- CAS #
- EHS designation
- Component percentage and unit

Editing a Product
To modify an existing product, simply edit the cell that intersects with the product's row and the field's column. The spreadsheet enforces restrictions on the value of certain columns (e.g.,, their value must be either TRUE or FALSE).
Adding a New Product
To add a new product, you can add a new row to your spreadsheet, filling in all applicable columns except Encamp ID.
Other Possible Applications
Apart from adding and editing products, this spreadsheet feature can be utilized in several other ways:
- Use and sort the SDS Last Updated column to quickly identify which chemicals lack SDSs or may have outdated ones.
- Easily spot potential data problems, such as:
- The Trade Secret column is marked as true
- The Density is extremely high or extremely low
- Uncommonly used hazards are marked as TRUE, such as: Pyrophoric, Self-heating, Combustible Dust, etc.
